I started FOI Watch after filing a single Freedom of Information request into a local project here on the Central Coast of NSW where I live.

I was really disappointed by the poor quality of the federal grant paperwork I received back through the FOI process - riddled with mistakes, thin on content and including commitments that were never delivered. I felt the department that approved the grant and the organisation receiving it both demonstrated a lack of respect and consideration for the taxpayers who funded it.​

We need to hold government to a higher standard because ultimately, it's not their money. I can't change a government on my own, but I can shine a light on where it falls short and that's the contribution I hope to make.
